Enter At Your Own Risk

Would you like to be my guest?

This is what my guest room looks like right now.  We're having a little work done to update a bathroom and the contractor asked if I'd mind if he kept a few tools on a drop cloth in the spare room to avoid running in and out to the van.   As they, temporary inconvenience for permanent improvement.

Garden Giveaway

I have been hard at work today cleaning out my raised beds and fighting off the gnats. I have an abundance of plants that I would be happy to share with fellow gardners instead of dumping them in the compost pile.
These are miniature bearded irises.  I have had them for years and they continue to grow and spread and need divided every three or four years.  They bloom sometime after the daffodils but before the regular size bearded iris.

I also have some dianthus and black-eyed susans.

Any takers?  Obviously, I'm appealing to local blog readers, but then you already had that figured out, didn't you?

So Sad

It's always a sad day when we pack up and head for home -- the last leg of the trip.  Here are a few photos to give you a glimpse of how I spent my last real day of vacation.

The view from my chair at the campsite.
Earlier in the day I found my way around the lake and spent a little time at the spa in the lodge.
Then, of course, I had to be careful not to mess up the fresh pedicure so I relaxed in the sun with my buddy and did some knitting while DH was out on the golf course.

Life is good!

Artie agrees.

Another Gorgeous Day in Colonial Williamsburg

It was a bit cooler than yesterday, but still comfortable for shorts and t-shirts.  We covered a lot of ground again today but really had to hurry through some exhibits in order to cover everything on our list.
I can never resist taking pictures of sheep.  This one's a Leicester Longwool, part of the rare breeds program at Colonial Williamsburg.

And this one's for Karen, a display of weather vanes from the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.  Karen, are you reading this?

Sun, Sand, and Hot Weather

It feels like summer to this northern girl, not mid-October.  Spent most of the day strolling around Colonial Williamsburg and walking in sand everywhere.  But I guess that goes with the territory .  Wish I could find a way to keep it out of the RV, though.

Here are a few scenes of the day.

Marvelous place.  So much to see.  We're going back tomorrow and still probably won't see everything.

Moving On!

We spent the first part of the day strolling through the Farmers' Market in Ashville, NC.

And then enjoyed the rest of the beautiful fall day on the patio with our boy.  Moving on tomorrow and want to be rested and ready for a long day on the road.

Some knitting progress to report: the traveling sock.

Camping

The Lodge at Stonewall Jackson Resort as viewed from our campsite.

Artie, a happy camper.

Pretty place.  Too bad we're only here for one night.  But we're coming back soon so Bill can spend some time on the other side of the lake.
