Return from Fantasyland

Mark your calendars for April 2011 to save some time to attend Knitter's Fantasy.  Trust me.  You don't want to miss this.  A whole day of knitting, shopping for knitting related items, learning about knitting and being immersed in a community of knitters.  It doesn't get much better. Unless you are lucky enough to attend with good friends and spend an extra day just so you can have some more time to knit and relax.   Check out the website of the Northcoast Knitting Guild for more information.

I had the pleasure of attending a Double Knitting Class in the morning.  Pretty cool stuff.

In Full Bloom

Daffodils are the only flowers that I can count on around my home.  I have found that they are the only flowers that the deer will not eat!!  The heat from the stone wall has coaxed these into full bloom before those in the rest of the yard.

I took advantage of the beautiful afternoon to get out and snap a picture of my current project.  This tank top is knit from the top down, starting with a provisional cast on at the shoulders. then joined at the underarms to work in the round.  The unconventional construction has made it interesting to work on and it is flying right along.  Just a few more rows and the bottom border will be complete with only armhole and neck edges needed to finish the project.

Crossing the Finish Line

At last!  Two finished projects to delcare. 

Although, the projects aren't very exciting, I'm still happy to be able to check a couple items off my WIP list.

I completed this pair of socks at the conclusion of the sock class I was teaching.  I had been working on them along with the class and using them for demonstrations.  Just your traditional top-down socks using the mistake stitch rib.

And here is my Cap for Kids to be donated as part of my registration for the Knitters' Fantasy next month.  Most of the knitting was completed last weekend when I had the pleasure to attend the Spring Fling for knitters.  What a great time!  Knitting, yarn, good company, and good food -- what more do you need for a great getaway?  Thank you to Wooly Wonders Fiber Arts Guild for sponsoring this event.  I've marked my calendar and am looking forward to attending next year.

Back in the Saddle

If there is anyone out there reading this blog, I'm going to make a renewed effort at posting more regularly.  I don't expect to post everyday, but I'm going to shoot for once or twice a week.

I was glued to the Olympics for the duration and am sad that they have come to a close.  It was been a great excuse opportunity to get some knitting done.  

This scarf is the latest project off the needles.  I just have a few ends to weave in and then the final blocking.  It was knit in two pieces from end to middle.  If you look closely near the top of the photo you can see where it was grafted together. 

And here's a closer look at the lace pattern -- vine lace.  A simple pattern, as lace stitches go, allowing me to knit while socializing or watching TV.

A Much Delayed Post

The last stop of our trip was at the beautiful Stonewall Jackson Lake Resort in West Virginia.  Almost every campsite bordered the lake.

Artie enjoyed checking out the grounds.

Now we're home and involved in daily chores and holiday preparations .......lots of baking and knitting to be done!

It didn't take long to reach overload.  The really cool thing is that all of this was just a few steps away from my front door so I could a do preliminary tour of the grounds and vendors and then head back to the bus for lunch.

Then back to the vendors for more serious shopping.

A Day on the Road

We spent most of the day traveling today and arrived at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair in late afternoon, just in time to set up in the down pour.  But at least it was a warm down pour.  So after a warm meal and a hot shower, all is well.  I'm planning to be at the gate when the festival opens in the morning.  I'd like to take lots of pictures, but no promises.  I know there will be lots to distract me!!
